Thing 23 (the end!)

Hurrah! Finally reached the end of the programme. I reckon about half of things, Linked in, twitter, wiki's and facebook I knew about already, some were new to me- igoogle for example and google documents- - others I had seen such as Flixster but had not actually used.

It was an interesting, although lenghtly experience- I am glad that i know how to set up an igoogle page and know a bit more about flixter than I did 12 weeks ago. I'm not sure how useful this will be for my library work- it remains to be seen!

Things 21 and 22

I really liked Flickr- it was a great way of uploading pictures and increasing the size of the images. I expact it is something I will use again in the future.

Regarding the gadgets it was pretty easy to do, when I know what to look for but again, as a bookmark, i had to find it and matk it in an igoogle page, when I already a homepage on my computer with favourite pages. I have not yet made use of my igoogle page outside of the project.

However with access to 'word' at the weekend, I did use 'google documents' to create some text which I would not have known about without 23things!

Thing 19 and Thing 20

Well, Google documents was quick and easy and a good way to type up a document rather than having to creat/save a word document, so i can see that it has its uses.

Thing 20, ThinkFree was really annoying. It look ages to upload, or maybe that was just my computer, but given there are so many other ways of saving documents it does seem rather a long winded way of getting something done,

so all in all for things 19 ang 20, I reckon google documents will be the way forward

Thing 18 Wikipedia

Wikipedia must be one of the most helpful things to come out of web 2.0. A search in google often pulls up a wikipedia reference which tends to be pretty helpful, although like most things on the web you might search for a second reference.

It is a great way of sharing information- without having to be the editor of a book, you can insert references to whatever topic you find interesing and which others will find useful. Best of all, you don't have to pay to get the information you need. Which is obviously not so good news for those previously publishing the information or libraries where people would come and read up on stuff. However for a serious, involved course of study, copying it all from wikipedia would be a bit obvious, so hopefully the academic libraries still have a role to play.

Wiki

Ok- I created a page on the Wiki- it was easy to do and set up an account. one thing that's annoying with Wiki's its, once its there, its there. I never found a way to delete the stuff. It can be a good way to share info without having to resort to facebook I guess but I don't genereally use them

Thing 16 twitter network

Thanks to ox23# things it was very easy to publish a post and see what other people had tweeted. Still not entirely sure how useful it be though !

Thing 15 Twitter

Set up the twitter account. It was a bit annoying; a lot a info was needed and it did not like the email addresses/ names I assigned it. It remains to be seen how interesting it will be
